Everton's shambolic end to the transfer window has triggered an open revolt from supporters, placing intense scrutiny on owners The Friedkin Group and chief executive Angus Kinnear. The final straw came when United States striker Folarin Balogun's proposed £40m move from AS Monaco collapsed in the early hours following medical issues.
Despite both clubs and the 25-year-old player signing the deal sheet before the deadline, complications during the medical led to renegotiations and ultimately prompted Balogun to walk away from Finch Farm without signing. Monaco's sporting director stated the player was not comfortable with how he was treated during the medical.
The debacle unfolded while Everton were also selling Beto to Fiorentina and losing Iliman Ndiaye to Manchester City, though a controversial plan to sell academy youngster Harrison Armstrong to Nottingham Forest was thankfully blocked following fan backlash.
Manager David Moyes is now left with just one recognized senior striker in Thierno Barry and an outfield squad of only 18 senior players, leaving owners and executives facing severe criticism and accusations of failure after a disastrous summer window.
