Ipswich sign Argentina World Cup winner Palacios

Exequiel Palacios has become the first World Cup winner to sign for Ipswich Town after completing a transfer from Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen for an undisclosed fee. The 27-year-old has committed to a four-year deal with the club.

Palacios expressed his excitement about playing in England and competing against top teams. He was part of Argentina's 2022 World Cup-winning squad and has also secured two Copa America titles.

Ipswich manager Gary O'Neil praised the signing, stating that the player's top-level experience will be vital as the club improves its squad. The team has spent over £150m since returning to the top flight.

During his time in Germany under Xabi Alonso, Palacios made 186 appearances and scored 15 goals, helping Leverkusen win their first-ever Bundesliga title before making the move to England.
