Cardiff mindful over defenders before Norwich tie

Cardiff are currently dealing with a defensive injury crisis as Dylan Lawlor, Calum Chambers, Will Fish and Gabriel Osho are all sidelined, leaving the team without a senior centre-back.

During their match against Derby County, manager Barry-Murphy had to deploy full-backs Perry Ng and Joel Bagan in central defence, with 15-year-old Noah Anyadike as the only defensive option on the bench.

The Cardiff head coach emphasized the need to be mindful of not pushing fit players too far, too soon in the season, noting that certain players have already been heavily relied upon.

Barry-Murphy may look to the under-21 squad for additional backup options as the team prepares to face Norwich City in the EFL Cup second round before their upcoming Championship fixture against Sheffield United.
