Brentford stated that matchday safety is of the utmost importance following an incident in which a rugby ball was kicked from a height towards the pitch during their Premier League game against Liverpool.
Footage on social media captured a man standing on a rooftop near the Gtech Community Stadium kicking the ball toward the playing area while other individuals cheered and laughed.
A staff member was seen removing the rugby ball from the pitch as the match continued, and Brentford lost the fixture 2-1 on Saturday.
The club condemned the behavior as potentially very harmful, confirmed the matter was referred to authorities, and noted they are assisting in identifying those responsible.
