Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli has completed a £60m transfer to Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal. The agreement, which includes a sell-on fee, concludes the 25-year-old Brazilian international's seven-year stay in north London.
Martinelli has signed a four-year contract with Al-Hilal, a team currently sharing the top of the table with Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr. He originally joined the Gunners from Ituano in 2019 and had 12 months left on his previous deal.
Manager Mikel Arteta informed Martinelli that he was not part of his plans for the season, leaving him out of the first two matchday squads. Last term, the forward made 53 appearances and scored 11 goals as Arsenal claimed the top-flight title.
In Saudi Arabia, Martinelli will team up with former Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins and Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville under the management of Simone Inzaghi. Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright previously expressed discomfort with how the club handled the player's exit.
