A dramatic sequence of events on transfer deadline night saw both Chelsea and Monaco miss out on their initial plans following a web of intertwined negotiations.
Chelsea had targeted 22-year-old midfielder Lamine Camara as they prepared for Enzo Fernandez's £125m sale, but Monaco initially rejected their valuation.
When issues arose with Folarin Balogun's medical at Everton, Chelsea stepped in with a £47m offer for Camara, which Monaco provisionally accepted after opening new discussions.
However, as Everton suddenly resolved their issues and prepared to sign Balogun at the last minute, Monaco pulled the plug on the Chelsea agreement, citing fairness to the Merseyside club.
Ultimately, Balogun left Everton's training ground without signing, leaving Chelsea furious over Monaco's written decision to cancel the late transfer.
