Stafford Rangers are preparing to host Gateshead in an FA Cup fourth qualifying round replay after securing a 1-1 draw away in the north-east on Saturday. A victory on Tuesday night would send the eighth-tier club into the tournament proper for the first time in 20 years.
Chief executive David Smith revealed that the current stadium capacity limit is 3,130, though discussions with the local council are underway to potentially increase it. Achieving three consecutive home crowds of 3,000 provides a massive financial boost and creates great excitement around the town.
The club has faced minor logistical challenges, including restrictions on selling beer pitchside due to Gateshead status, but management is focused on ensuring fans are well looked after. Ticket sales have been exceptionally fast, reflecting the growing optimism among supporters.
Manager Graham Deakin expressed pride in his team performance following the weekend draw and remains confident ahead of the replay. The team will also learn their potential first-round opponents from Monday evening televised draw before taking to the pitch.
