Players and fans of Plymouth Parkway gathered together to watch the FA Cup first round draw, setting up a historic fixture. The seventh-tier club will play at home against Southern League rivals Berkhamsted after securing a 2-0 win over Chertsey Town.
Top scorer Andrew Neal expressed excitement about avoiding the big teams and getting a winnable match at home. Manager Karl Curtis, whose side sits second in their league, warned that he is taking nothing for granted against opponents who recently defeated Southend United 2-1.
Curtis anticipates a sell-out crowd at Bolitho Park, noting that home advantage will bring its own pressure while helping their opponents play with less burden. Both managers expect a tightly contested 50-50 encounter between two familiar league rivals.
Formed in 1988, Parkway have enjoyed a meteoric rise through the divisions in recent years. Their historic cup run has already yielded £18,375 in prize money, with a potential £68,950 more awaiting if they successfully advance to the next stage.
