Michael Carrick insists Manchester United have moved on from Lisandro Martinez fallout

Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has insisted he is telling the truth when stating that the club has moved on from Lisandro Martinez's explosive post-match comments. Martinez drew sharp criticism after targeting the club's hierarchy following a 2-0 Champions League defeat by Atletico Madrid.

While Martinez apologised for the timing of his remarks, which put the spotlight on director of football Jason Wilcox, he did not apologise for the words themselves. Former United players Wayne Rooney, Roy Keane, and Gary Neville heavily condemned the Argentine defender, warning he could destabilise the dressing room.

However, Carrick brushed off external criticism, maintaining that the squad is in a fantastic place and completely unaffected by the controversy. He confirmed that Martinez will be part of the squad for Sunday's Premier League trip to Elland Road to face Leeds.

The negative headlines come at a difficult time for Carrick, whose team is on a five-match winless run in the Premier League. The manager acknowledges the crucial importance of ending this winless sequence to ease the pressure surrounding his own future.
