Mbeumo offers Carrick solace as Man Utd winless run goes on

Manchester United's winless run reached six matches after a 1-1 draw at Elland Road against Leeds United. Bryan Mbeumo scored his fourth goal in seven Premier League games for the club, providing a rare bright spot for manager Michael Carrick.

Apart from Bruno Fernandes, no other player in Carrick's squad has scored more than once this season. The team sits 13th in the Premier League table as ongoing defensive and roster issues continue to mount.

Lisandro Martinez started the match despite controversy surrounding his recent criticism of sporting director Jason Wilcox, but was substituted at half-time due to a thigh injury. Diogo Dalot became the fifth different player to start at left-back this season.

Carrick expressed optimism about finding a way through the current struggles despite the club enduring its worst winless run since the 2018-19 season. United prepare next for a Champions League trip to face Como.
