Salmon signs first professional contract with Arsenal

Arsenal defender Marli Salmon has committed his future to the club by signing his first professional contract on his 17th birthday. Salmon made his first-team debut in a Champions League fixture against Club Brugge in December and subsequently made his first start in the FA Cup win over Mansfield.

Having joined the Arsenal academy as an attacker in 2019, Salmon has successfully transitioned into defense. He primarily operates as a centre-back, though he has featured at right-back at the senior level to adapt to the physical demands of the professional game.

Reflecting on the milestone, Salmon admitted that the achievement means a great deal to him after enduring various ups and downs. He also dedicated the moment to his family, emphasizing that the contract is a reward for the immense time and effort they invested in his development.

Salmon was among six youngsters who made their senior debuts during Arsenal's Premier League title-winning campaign. Commenting on the demanding season, he noted that maintaining performance levels consistently requires overcoming numerous small challenges to become a champion.
