Fernandez joins Man City for joint-British record £125m

Manchester City have completed the signing of Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea for a joint-British transfer record of £125m. The acquisition brings City's total spending for the single transfer window to a Premier League record £458m.

Negotiations between the clubs took place over a 24-hour period, leading to an agreement on Tuesday. The 25-year-old Argentina international previously worked with City manager Enzo Maresca during the Italian's time at Chelsea.

In an open letter on Instagram, Fernandez reflected on his departure, acknowledging that the decision was difficult and thanking Chelsea fans for their support throughout his time at the club.

Alongside their record spending, City have generated around £300m from player sales this summer, helping balance their heavy investment in the squad.
