Cardiff's Anyadike, 15, sets new EFL Cup record as youngest player

Noah Anyadike turned 15 less than 100 days before breaking the record as the youngest player in EFL Cup history when he started Cardiff City's 2-1 defeat against Norwich City.

Due to an injury crisis leaving the team without senior centre-back options, the Wales youth international was handed his debut at 15 years and 98 days old, surpassing Harvey Elliott's previous record set in 2018.

Despite becoming Cardiff's youngest-ever player, Anyadike's debut was cut short in the second half when he had to hobble off the pitch due to muscle cramps.

Cardiff manager Brian Barry-Murphy praised the youngster's exceptional talent and progress, emphasizing the club's responsibility to protect, educate, and properly challenge him as he develops his career.
