Crystal Palace are attempting to intercept Sunderland's move for Lyon winger Malick Fofana.
The 21-year-old had agreed to join Sunderland in a deal worth nearly £30m, but Palace have now submitted their own proposal.
Arsenal had also pursued the player earlier, but the Premier League champions failed to reach an agreement with Lyon on a fee.
Fofana is now traveling to England for a medical and must decide between the two clubs, both of which have qualified for the Europa League.
