Manchester United manager Michael Carrick delivered a passionate five-minute and thirty-second address in a bid to save his job following a run of seven games without a win.
The emergency press conference followed a shocking 4-1 Champions League defeat by Como, alongside public criticisms from defender Lisandro Martinez and captain Bruno Fernandes regarding tactics and club history.
When asked directly if he would consider dropping Fernandes for Sunday's Premier League fixture at Old Trafford, Carrick stated that he will always do what is best for the football club.
Club sources indicated that Fernandes would not be stripped of the captaincy or fined for his post-match comments, while Carrick insisted the dressing room is not divided.
Carrick also revealed that the club is doing everything to support Fernandes and his family after his Cheshire home was burgled on Wednesday night.
