Following a 4-1 Champions League defeat by Como, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes appeared to question the club's tactical setup, stating that they started off on the wrong foot.
The Portuguese midfielder explained the coaching staff's decision not to press man-to-man, which involves giving the opponent space and waiting for the right moment to win the ball back.
Since Michael Carrick took charge as manager in January, United have largely defended in a zonal 4-2-4 or 4-4-2 shape designed to set traps and launch quick turnovers.
While this approach worked well last season, notably in a win against Arsenal, it has become less effective this campaign as opponents have learned to counter the tactical setup.
