Barcelona have completed the permanent signing of Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal. The deal is worth 8.6 million pounds, which equals 10 million euros, following earlier reports by BBC Sport.
Jesus struggled for regular playing time at Arsenal in recent seasons due to injuries and the preferred choices of Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres. Napoli also showed interest, but Jesus chose the Spanish league champions after completing his medical on Monday.
Jesus joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022, recording 32 goals and 22 assists in 123 appearances. Before Arsenal's victory against Aston Villa, manager Mikel Arteta confirmed that Jesus was absent from squad training.
He becomes Barcelona's third Premier League signing this summer, following Anthony Gordon and Rodri. Meanwhile, Arsenal have also sold Fabio Vieira to Hamburger SV and are close to loaning Ethan Nwaneri to Borussia Dortmund.
