Arsenal owner Kroenke buys MLB franchise LA Angels

Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke has purchased Major League Baseball franchise the Los Angeles Angels in a deal reported to be worth $4bn. Although the exact cost was not officially announced, reports indicate it sets a record price for an MLB team.

Kroenke, who has held a controlling stake in Arsenal since 2011, now owns teams across six major sports leagues. His extensive sports empire includes the NFL's Los Angeles Rams, NBA's Denver Nuggets, NHL's Colorado Avalanche, and MLS's Colorado Rapids.

The previous owner, Arte Moreno, had faced heavy pressure and fan protests due to an 11-year play-off drought, which is set to extend to 12 seasons. Supporters had staged viral protests and chanted for him to sell the team.

Moreno stated that his family was honored to steward the club for 23 years and expressed confidence that Kroenke Sports & Entertainment represents the best next owner for the franchise moving forward.
