Ezri Konsa has signed for Arsenal on a four-year contract, with the option for an extra year, after a £55m agreement was reached with Aston Villa following weeks of negotiation. The deal could potentially include an additional £4m in add-ons.
The 28-year-old expressed his pride at joining one of the best teams in the world and revealed he discussed the move with his international teammates while representing England at the World Cup in North America.
Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta praised the defender's athleticism, composure, and tactical intelligence. Berta noted that Konsa's versatility in playing both central defence and right-back will help maintain the club's high defensive standards.
Konsa made 286 appearances for Aston Villa after joining in July 2019 and helped them win the Europa League in May. His arrival bolsters Arsenal's defensive options alongside summer additions, amid long-term injuries to William Saliba and Jurrien Timber.
