Martinelli deserves better from Arsenal, says Ian Wright

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright believes that 25-year-old Gabriel Martinelli deserves more respect from the club amid uncertainty over his future. Martinelli was left out of the squad for the 3-0 opening win against Coventry and missed the Community Shield victory against Manchester City.

Last season, Martinelli made 53 appearances in all competitions and scored 11 goals to help Arsenal secure the Premier League title. Since joining from Ituano in 2019, he has scored 62 goals in 278 appearances for Arsenal under manager Mikel Arteta.

Wright expressed discomfort with how the situation is being handled, noting that the player is left in the dark without proper communication. However, Arsenal deny freezing him out, attributing his absence to squad depth and the arrival of new signing Christos Tzolis in his preferred left-wing position.

Arsenal have made Martinelli available for transfer as they seek a significant sale before the window closes, alongside Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira. Martinelli has already turned down Galatasaray and aims to join a top European club if he leaves the Emirates Stadium.
