The soon-to-be-completed sale of Savinho to Tottenham for £75m plus £10m in add-ons marks a record departure for Manchester City, the flagship club of the City Football Group.
Savinho spent four years within the CFG network after signing for French club Troyes in 2022 without ever playing an official match for them, instead developing through loan spells at PSV and Spanish side Girona.
After being bought by Manchester City for £30.8m in 2024, the player recorded two goals and 12 assists across two seasons in the Premier League, turning a substantial profit for the ownership group.
CFG executives defend the multi-club system, with Brian Marwood calling it a success story that creates a clear pathway for young talent to reach the pinnacle at Manchester City.
