Champions League draw set for August 27 with 36 teams competing

The league phase draw for the 2026-27 Champions League campaign will be held on Thursday, August 27 at 17:00 BST in Monaco. A total of 36 teams will enter this stage, with 29 already qualified and the remaining seven spots to be decided by qualifiers concluding next week.

During the league phase, each team will play eight different opponents once, split into four home and four away matches. The 36 clubs will be distributed across four pots based on UEFA club coefficient rankings, and each team will face two opponents from every pot without playing clubs from their own association.

Premier League champions Arsenal are placed in pot one alongside clubs like Liverpool and Manchester City, as well as Paris St-Germain, who beat runners-up Arsenal in last season's final. The top eight teams in the league phase will advance directly to the round of 16, while teams finishing from ninth to 24th enter the play-off knockout round.
