Jack Grealish's preference is to return to Everton should he leave Manchester City in the remaining days of the transfer window, according to BBC Sport sources.
The 30-year-old has made two substitute appearances this season, but new manager Enzo Maresca is open to letting him leave before Tuesday's deadline.
Grealish spent last season on loan with the Toffees, contributing two goals and six assists in 20 appearances before suffering a foot injury in January.
Aston Villa are also believed to be interested in re-signing their former captain, though City sources indicate that no concrete offers have been made yet.
